FLICK IT ON
Flick it on is finally back. There are five flick it on movies in this class and two of them are going around the world. The other three are just going around the syndicate. If you don't know what flick it on is it is a collaborative film making project. People add sound effects, music and voice overs. So we send it away just with a the movie it is completely silent. The movies have to contain the time 3:15 a magic trick and a rubics cube. The movies have to be exactly one minute. The movies go round and round so every movie has something from every school, that are part of this activity.
Here is one of the movies from our class before anything is added on to it.

Sailing on Saturday
Today for shared writing we were writing about Luke's trip to the yacht club. We are revisiting recount writing this term before we complete our end of year sample, to demonstrate all of what we've been learning this year!
Today we were looking at paragraphing and reminding ourselves about some reasons to change paragraphs. These are:
- a new character comes along
- a new event happens
- a new idea is introduced
- the setting changes
- a new person is speaking
- time moves forward (or backwards)
- the 'camera' moves
- Now hit enter/return! -
Can you think of any others?
Here is today's story... http://goo.gl/nCp5ce

Shared Writing
Today we were revisiting how to write Recounts. As a class we wrote a story together. CJ started it by telling us all about his recent trip to the bumper boats, and Mrs Power recorded it using the Story Builder website.
http://docsstorybuilder.appspot.com/
We then all helped add and improve the recount by adding describing words around the setting, making sure we had paragraphs, adding L4 punctuation, and even a simile!
We think that our class recount turned out great! You can watch it here

Maths Knowledge Passport Term 4
For the Maths component of Room 2 Home Learning, children in Years 5 and 6 have been given a 'Knowldege Passport'. The purpose of the 'Knowledge Passport' is to help your child gain a quick and accurate recall of the key items of Numeracy knowledge for their level.
This knowledge will enable them to develop a broad range of strategies to solve mathematical problems efficiently, and help them gain success in Mathematics. The level they have been given is the one that will best meet their Numeracy needs, based on what they are learning in their class Maths programmes.
When they can demonstrate to the teacher that they can answer a few questions based on the concept, they will be signed off by the teacher. The object is to complete each box, and move to the next level. There is no set time-frame for this to be achieved, but we are hoping that your child can move on from their current Knowledge Level.
We are expecting each child to work at a steady pace, and to take responsibility for their own learning. Correct answers need to be given in three seconds. (NB: some questions in Stage 7 and 8 will allow more time as they involve a lengthier process to find the correct answer and cannot realistically be answered in 3 secs)
When students pass one question and move on to the next they still need to go back and revisit goals passed in order to maintain a quick and accurate recall of this knowledge. If you’ve ever wondered how you can help your child with their maths – this is it!
On pages that follow you will find web links you can use with your child to help them practice their Numeracy Knowledge. You can further support your child's success in achieving their Knowldege Passport goals by:
* being positive and enthusiastic about mathematics yourself;
* asking questions about what your child is doing in Maths;
* getting your child to show you how to solve Maths problems;
* showing your child how you solve Maths problems;
* valuing their ideas especially if they differ from yours;
* encouraging and praising their efforts;
* making Maths learning FUN!
If you have any questions about the 'Knowledge Passport' please talk to me

Milk in School
At Nayland Primary we are starting Milk In Schools today. We watched a video yesterday on how Milk in School works.
5 days a week after lunch we will each get a small drink of milk. We have to drink the box dry by tilting the box up and putting the straw in the corner of the box and slurping it dry. After we have slurped the box dry we fold the box up to a neat wee package and then we put it into the recycling bin.
One time a week the milk man or lady will bring the school quite a few boxes of milk and they will take the old boxes of empty milk away and make it into books for children like us in Thailand.
I hope to see how many people like the milk and how many people think it could be better also

Science Fair
Yesterday room 2 started their science boards and began making them colourful. Also some of room 2 started their science tests for their projects. Room 2 is having lots of fun with their really cool science projects. Some people are writing up their instructions and their results, others are still testing. We have been doing our science fair investigations since the beginning of term 3. We started to write up our results and research on our draft write ups.We also took some photos of our science tests and and then we will put some of the best photos on our boards.These are some of the photos we have got of the work in progress science boards.

Today Conor in our class spoke about rifle shooting with his Dad in the weekend. He told us there's a voucher in the back of the Entertainment Book that gets you in for the price of 2 for 1!
He showed us some targets that he and his dad were shooting, and some bullet shells.
He shot all types of guns like a 22, a 223, a shot gun, the red thing (shown above) is a shot gun bullet shell. The middle one is a 223 and the small one is a 22.
The orange disc is somthing you shoot using a shot gun.
The 2 pieces of card are the targets they shot at.
Thanks Conor for sharing about your great adventure with your Dad.

Jesse is a JGeek
Last night my family got to go and see Jgeeks at Trafalgar Center. First there was a rap about Rugga and then the Jgeeks came on and started performing. At the end we got to get some pictures and some videos. I got a pair of EGG sunglasses and my hat and my t-shirt was signed by the Jgeeks. The best part of the night was when they did the accents.
